Sweden?

Reading Emily's blog about her Swedish trip is making me want to go there. If you haven't read of the delights of travelling in Sweden her blog link is on this page. The food sounds fantastic!

I have a ticket!

I haven't been moving very quickly but progress has been made - we have tickets to London (and home again), new passport applications are in - and we have our travel insurance. I am considering vino, spaghetti, canal boats, and good times. The big question is....have the Lacemakers opened the Calais Museum. If so.....number 7 destination.
But before then....Innamincka and the Outback! (is that how you spell Inna......?????)

Camping at Farina

This, according to Himself, doesn't show the camper to its best advantage - but to me it represents Heaven on Earth. We pulled up at Farina on the Oodnadatta Track and camped near these trees. Nature provided us with shade, fabulous old tables had been made out of sleepers, there was wood for a campfire, there was a hot shower and we were the only people in the world. This is a 90 second sort of setup. JUST GREAT!

Selling the Aussie Swag camper trailer

These pictures are Home Valley in the magnificent Kimberley. We have been there several times and it is one of the best places we ever went in our Aussie Swag.
We have had a fantastic time travelling around this beautiful country in the Aussie Swag but have now decided to part with it. Why? Well - it is all because Himself decided that he wanted an internal shower and toilet and a few other magic features that go whizz bang. So we set of on an investigation and ultimately ended up with a Kimberley Karavan which cost lots of dollars. This, of course meant that we had 2 campers and even the intrepid travellers only need one.

Sadly Himself was heard to say to a friend, "I wonder why we did that - there seems to be so much to break on the KK - nothing ever went wrong with the Aussie Swag." Moi bit her lip!!!!! She has gained much wisdom during the many long years of her marriage.

Now someone else can take advantage of our little palace on wheels. All the technical details are on the Trading Post - but not the real reason why anyone would want (need) it. It is absolutely snug and cosy on a cold, wet and windy night - you can hear the elements all around but not a drop of water comes in and the windows are very secure. Equally on hot nights the large windows can be unzipped and the mozzie screens keep out all the bugs. There are flaps and awnings which go every which way and you can make lots of shade if you want. One of the real benefits is the quick set up. We were timed (with amazement) one night by fellow campers. Less than 90 seconds from stopping to having the overnight section ready and the wine out of the car fridge. That's living!

Men wouldn't think of this - but there is a little flat bit beside the mattress on both sides amd there is also a quite large storage area which runs along the sides beside the mattress - all sorts of stuff can go in there - tissues, night cream etc. The little flat bit is great for holding a late night drink, and because you can push the empty container right into the corner it doesn't spill or tip. It also means that Himself can easily deliver early morning cups of tea.

Sometimes Moi has trouble getting the tow bar to line up with the camper and this means much flapping from Himself who does most of the driving - the real advantage with the Swag is that if you are a bit out of line you can just push it to where you want it - saves many a bad domestic moment. And Moi can pack it all up by herself if she has to. Mind you - she'd rather not but it is really quite easy.

Housework - there is none!

The little stove is perfectly adequate for all sorts of cooking and we have great meals when we travel. The lift up pantry at the front gives you easy access to your food supplies and you can get to it when it is raining without getting wet. I bought some of those very cheap plastic tool carriers and 6 fit side by side across the width of the van - that keeps all the bits and pieces tidy. Plates, cups etc travel under the sink. It all works.

Darn - now I have an urge to throw the pillows and toothbrushes in and head for the great outdoors.

My blog is all in English!

Unlike Number 2 my blog is all in English, as is my planning for my next trip. Well strictly speaking that is not true - but at least it isn't in Swedish and people can read the instructions! At the moment we are contemplating a cruise on a French canal boat - probably in the Midi. Unlike number 2, I have no friends and no Craft projects organised to keep me busy while I am away.

Any suggestions from canal boaters would be greatly appreciated

New designs.

It has been interesting playing around with all of the new features in this blog programme - I still am not totally satisfied with the finished result. I have changed so many times to get something that pleases me but I think this is the best so far.....bet it doesn't stay like this. Emily has a great layout and I like her colours - can't copy her however.

New template.

Have tried all the templates and decided on this one as, even with some high class help, the white bits in that last effort were never going to go away. I have assured by No. 3 that she can hardly wait to read my missives - in other words "she won't bother". I know how that mind thinks (at least sometimes. Anyway I don't care.

That white space!

I want to put something there ....... a new challenge to consider.

It's gone!

Got rid of the silly blue bit and the square - trouble is I also got rid of my blog description and my blog title - ah well - at least it is an improvement. Now to try and get them back again without the silly green square and the blue bit!

Adding photographs to the blog

Trying to learn how to add pictures - step 1 is obviously to reduce their size

Widgets

Ok - now I am totally confused.....need a brain!!!!!!

That silly blue bit.

I am trying to change that bright blue bit and put something in the numbered square.....can't find out how to do it!!!!! I really should be doing the washing and the washing up etc.....but I am now on a mission!!!!!

Getting the sizes correct.

I am having trouble with getting things in proportion - there don't seem to be enough things to edit!

Getting it sorted!

It isn't all that obvious when you begin this journey how to make the next move - in fact some of it seems rather hit and miss....in my case a little more miss than hit. I am at the stage of trying to work out how to do the posts and add the photographs.
